Just noticed on Metro Bank website that they offer safe deposit boxes in their stores: https://www.metrobankonline.co.uk/safe-deposit-boxes/

Metro Bank has a number of Fixed-Term accounts, the minimum of which is a one-year account paying 2.45%. But I'm not convinced that it's in the best interests of the beneficiaries to tie the money up for a year given my aunt's age. The Terms do seem to preclude early closure. I wondered if anyone had any experience?

I note that Metro Bank has become quite competitive with their rates recently - I wondered why, but just as I was going to create a post, it occurred to me that they were recently in the news about their stability.

Hi everyone. I've just opened a Metro Bank Instant Access Savings Account but I'm having trouble accessing my money.

Metro Bank have announced the forthcoming demise of their credit card to all so I have cancelled mine - and will do the same later today with the current account.

I thought the bank had changed its treatment of overseas usage since my last overseas trip. Can anyone with recent experience confirm the "no charge for use in Europe" statement? (I intend to visit a Metro branch to ask but only if I have time later today.)

I think the OP is referring to Metro Bank's basic account, which is called a cash account. If you switch to a different bank, they might give you a standard account, rather than a basic account.
