As for Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE), I prefer the Ubuntu editions as many third party software packages for Windows (eg. games, VPN clients, camera apps) have an Ubuntu version as their Linux version, which may be installed via deb or PPA or be a system package in the Ubuntu repositories.
